Any time you are carrying, I highly recommend carrying at least one backup magazine in a magazine pouch (or moon clip/speed loader if you carry a revolver). Not only could you possibly need the extra ammunition against multiple attackers, but it also provides a fallback if your primary magazine decides to malfunction. Some people even choose to carry an entire backup gun for this reason. There are many choices of magazine pouches available in single or double configurations and made from typical materials like Kydex, nylon, or leather.
